The public art work Drawn Place, Drawn Space was completed in 2004. The sculptural fence motifs were created in collaboration
with the early year students at Mawson Lakes Primary School. The concept and drawings were developed in response to the environs,
historical and cultural lineage by the children at the school, these drawings were translated into three dimentional metal forms.
The fence motifs are constructed in laser cut aluminium, powder coated in a range of colours reflecting the surrounding environment
and placed onto the existing fence panels. The final design utilises the children’s images to tell a linear story, be it a
stylised one of the history of the area. The research encompassed archaeological findings of indigenous culture and artefacts
found in the area through to western development and new technologies.
